Hyperion Arc #13 - For The Fallen

Postby C. J. Short » Mon Nov 07, 2016 4:21 pm

"Status report, Mr. Vanich!" shouted Captain Amasov, struggling to be heard over the cacophony caused by dozens of alarms.

"Primary deflector is offline, secondary is losing power," called out Vanich, Amasov's Second Officer.

"Damage control to the secondary deflector array, we're gonna need it. Status of the fleet?" Amasov pressed, struggling to maintain his composure. The images on the viewscreen didn't bode well, a single black Borg Cube sitting amidst a growing cloud of debris.

"The Melbourne and Saratoga are confirmed destroyed, and we just lost the Yamaguchi and Bellerophon. Attack Wing's Beta and Gamma are taking heavy losses, and-"

A long pause followed, filled with only the klaxons and tremors as the Endeavour bobbed and weaved, firing what weapons remained operable.

"Out with it, Mr. Vanich!" Amasov ordered.

"The Admiral's ship has been destroyed, sir," Vanich explained, his face ashen as realization began to permeate the bridge crew. Just minutes after it had begun, the Battle of Wolf 359 was over, and Starfleet had lost decisively.

"Warp status, Mr. Vanich?" asked Captain Amasov. Vanich looked over his shoulder, looking as if he might argue, but the man simple swallowed and checked the damage reports.

"We should have enough power left to make a jump, sir," he answered. Amasov looked to the viewscreen and the black mass that relentlessly tore the fleet apart. One of their own was on that ship, and it let the Borg know exactly how to hit them. For a brief moment, he believed he was seeing the end of the Federation as he knew it.

"Plot a course to the rendezvous, maximum available warp," the Captain ordered.

"Aye, sir," answered Vanich, nodding to the Conn Officer. The battle whisked out of view as the Endeavour turned about, and the stars turned to white streaks as the ship fled, leaving the rest of the fleet behind.

Of 40 vessels, the Endeavour would be the only one to survive.

It would appear that we have some displacement of star alignments and not where we want to be. We will hold position until we have determined what caused this.

NAV: Work with Science and Engineering and get some answers.
SCI/ENG: Work with Commander Danann and find out what happened.
OPS: Check all subspace bands for communications signals, find out any differences in protocols, etc.
CMO: As always, have your teams on standby. Check all available databases for any medical information that differ from what you know.
MED: Take your orders from Lt. Rousseau.
CTO: Check all available databases accessible through subspace for any anomalies in history. Delegate to TAC and factor our new addition to the crew in your distribution of duties.
TAC/AUX: Take your orders from Commander Feyna.

That is all.

We've successfully docked at DS3.
We may not get time in the coming weks to let our hair down and take a breather, so I expect each crew member to take some personal time to relax and unwind a little, even if...especially if you don't want to.

The shore leave roster has been made available to all department heads, so check with them for your time slot and use it.

Have fun. That's an order.
Lt Cmdr Danann.
