In 100% unrelated news, I'm getting a pet bird this Friday. :)

Probably not to the same brain, no, but if you've got some DNA, you could always clone a new brain. Which would be highly illegal, as I understand it...

Also, what kind of bird? :)

Once a brain has been dead longer than a few minutes, it's impossible to bring it (or the person who it belongs to, as the case may be) back to life without severe damage - even in the Star Trek universe. As CJ said, you can clone pretty much anything with some DNS, but it won't be the same brain, the same person, you've basically just recreated the organic component.

You've also broken the law in the Federation, and a lot of other societies. So there's that :V

Post pictures of birb, please.

How effective was that brain scan we did? if we clone a brain and then...meshed it with the scan would it remake part of Kesh's personality or something? did the scan copy her memories?

When I get birb I will post birb!

Birb.

I've enjoyed watching what's happening on the Bremen, it's an interesting quandry - legal issues aside, even if it was possible to download and recreate an entire person, is it really the same person they were before? They might look the same, they might even know the same things, but they've never lived those things. They're just memories, implanted knowledge. You've created a human (in this case) life, told it what it needs to know, but it's no longer a sum of their life experiences and isn't that what makes a person?

I agree James. Using the Lorriana matrix we attempted to compile Kesh's neural patterns and neural chemistry into a computer model, but before the compiling finished the ship suffered a catastrophic power failure.....if the program worked, what do we have? A neural clone without a body, or a severely damaged neural copy.....it's exciting, and if it worked, some members of the crew have started breaking Federation law by circumventing computer controls to recreate a body....just in case.

Actually, it suffered the power failure AS the compiling finished.

But yes, the brain has breathed its last.
