ENG Cadet Ael Letant

Stardate 11606.27

The Starship Bremen. She’s probably a fine boat. She’s certainly no Sigma Rho though. Ael was still fuming that she had been passed over for posting to the Sigma Rho station, her first choice of assignment after graduating from the academy. Sure, she wasn’t the top of her class, she never had a hope of being valedictorian, but she thought she did well enough to earn a spot where she wanted to be posted. Times like these, when life slaps you in the face and laughs are no stranger to Ael. It’ll be eight years soon since she last saw her family. Eight years since she left behind her Romulan life and heritage to pursue a career as a Starfleet medical officer. By the time the first year was over, it was clear that Ael’s future in Starfleet was not in the medicinal field. Once she settled in to second year, and starting trying other fields of study, it became very clear where she needed to be. It was hard for Ael to think back to her time in the academy, she didn’t have many friends and she missed her family a whole lot for a long time. Ael settled into the engineering world remarkably well, given the limitations she faced as a smaller woman. A little bit of ingenuity goes a long way to survival and thriving on the engineering deck.

All of these thoughts were racing through Ael’s head as she packed up her room, and her life at Starfleet Academy, getting ready for transport to her new home. As much as she hated to admit it, even though it was a second tier ship in her eyes, she was excited for her first real deployment. All she has to do is keep her head down, and she’d be running the engineering department on a real ship in no time.

You know, that's the first time a new cadet has insulted her way into my heart.
Wonderful intro log, Daphne!
